Hi, I'm Summer. Thank you so much for stopping by! I began this journey as an undergraduate student. After job shadowing with a local printer's graphic department, I realized that being a "starving artist" just might be worth all the trouble. I began seeking greater knowledge in the areas of art and photography through college courses, and dreamed of the day when I could offer my love for these things to the world. In 2005, I began doing freelance graphic design, primarily focused on projects such as logo generation, marketing materials and social invitations/ announcements. When I encountered difficulties using other photographers' work within my designs, I decided that it was time to offer photography services along with design/ print packages. A "photographer" was not what I necessarily set out to become; however, it has become a great love of my life. It's extraordinary being there to help freeze time with each project. I also have the opportunity to capture my own beautiful, amazing daughters, which you will find me doing much of the time.Aside from photographing anything that walks or talks (or will eventually walk and talk), I am a full time graducate student, studying what else? People. Through counseling and therapy, I hope to help people change their lives. Random facts: I am obsessed with the color turquoise. I've seen every episode of Dawson's Creek, Saved by the Bell, Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven ever made. I thoroughly enjoy sushi and milano cookies. I love picnics and roads where the trees are overgrown. Music inspires me. I have 7 brothers and sisters. I have often been compared to the awkward characted of "Jess" on the show "New Girl."What sets me apart from all the photographers out there starting businesses? I believe it could be several things. First, I like to get to know my clients as friends. Professionalism is important to me, but I feel that you can't be yourself if we don't get to know one another. Let me know your tastes, send me photos you love, send me a link to your Pinterest boards. Second, I don't do this to get rich, I do it because I love it. I don't believe it should be impossible to afford professional photos. Third, I offer you the chance to purchase your photos on disc in high resolution. Not only do you have the opportunity to do your own printing and share on Facebook, you also have the ability to maintain your own archive for years to come.Interested in booking? You may wonder if this is a potentially awkward experience, given that it is often considered such a private time. However, I assure you that I am able to remain a “fly on the wall,” standing behind your head and only capturing the moments that you would feel comfortable having photographed. No embarrassing shots wiill be taken. If you are interested in or even just curious about birth photography, please feel free to inquire with any and all questions that you may have. I would be happy to share with you examples of the birth event work I have done before upon request.
